20+ years experience

Are you tired of coming home to a chewed-up sofa after you return home from work, or getting deaf from the excessive barking every time the doorbell rings? Maybe walks have become a nightmare of pulling and lunging, and you've felt that flash of embarrassment when your dog reacts to another dog or stranger passing by? Or perhaps you're just exhausted from a puppy who never seems to settle.

Every dog is different, and every behaviour has a reason behind it. Whether you're raising a new puppy, working through frustrating habits, anxiety/reactivity, or simply want to teach solid obedience and commands, I'm here to help you build a calmer, happier life with your dog — together.

After 20 years of living in the UK, I am now based in Madrid, Spain and offer all these services in English. Either remotely worldwide (I have customers from the UK, South Africa and the US) or face-to-face in Madrid.

I use science-based, force-free, personalised training and behaviour plans tailored to your dog's individual needs. Let's turn frustration into confidence, for you and for your dog.

About Me

I've loved dogs for as long as I can remember and by 14, I was walking every neighbour's and friend's dog, just to spend time with them. That early passion turned into 20 years of hands-on experience: raising my own, volunteering at shelters, working alongside an award-winning breeder, and eventually completing COAPE's two-year Diploma in Dog Behaviour, alongside certifications with IMDT and Victoria Stilwell's Dog Training Academy.

Everything I do is force-free and science-based: no quick fixes, no one-size-fits-all methods. I work with you and your dog as a team, building plans around real life,

Top 10 Dog Training Related

Frequently Asked Questions

I have collected the top 10 most frequently asked Dog Training related questions from my customers over the years.

If you have questions about me, or the programs or the services, click on the separate FAQ page.

1. How do I stop my dog from barking?

Identify the triggers causing the barking in the first place and remove them. Never reward barking with attention, even unintentionally. Make your dog something else (sit, down etc.) and reward the quietness. Increase duration of the quiet time slowly.

Read my blog about a client story and how we stopped a Jack Russel's excessive barking.

2. How do I stop my dog from pulling on the lead?

Find out the reason behind the pulling: is it fear? over excitement? If fear. avoid triggers (other dogs, motorbikes, people), if over excitement: provide outlets before the walks. Then once out and about: stop walking the moment the lead goes tight, and only move forward again once it's loose. Rewarding your dog for walking calmly beside you will reinforce the behaviour over time.

3. At what age should I start training my dog?

Puppies can begin learning from as early as 8 weeks old, making it the ideal time to build good habits. But it's never too late to start: dogs of any age benefit from training..

4. How long does it take to train a dog?

Basic commands can be learnt within 1–2 weeks of daily practice, but behavioural issues often require more time and patience. Every dog is different, and progress depends on consistency.

5. How do I stop my dog jumping up at people?

Step forward gently (this will naturally knock them off balance without ignoring them or punishing them) and ask for a wanted behaviour (sit, down etc.). Only reward the wanted behaviour. The key is is that everyone must do this, and I mean everyone. Otherwise your dog will keep playing the lottery: and one day he/she will win and someone will give them the attention they want/desire.

6. How do I teach my dog to come back when called?

Build your value. Start at home with no distractions: call your dog's name in a happy tone, and reward them generously every single time they come to you. Never scold them when they return, even if they took a while — you want coming back to always feel like the right choice.

7. How do I stop my dog from chewing everything?

Chewing is natural, so the goal is to redirect it onto appropriate items like toys or chews rather than trying to eliminate it entirely. Make sure your dog has enough mental stimulation and exercise, as destructive chewing is often a sign of boredom or anxiety.

8. My dog is scared of other dogs, can that be fixed?

Fear around other dogs is very common and can be improved significantly with gradual, controlled exposure at a pace your dog is comfortable with. A structured training plan can help them build confidence and learn that other dogs aren't a threat.

9. Can all breeds be trained the same way?

The core principles of positive reinforcement apply to all breeds, but some dogs are more food-motivated, more independent, or more easily distracted than others. I will adapt my approach to suit your dog's breed traits and individual personality.

10. Isn't using food in training just bribery?

It's a common concern, but there's an important distinction between a bribe and a reward: a bribe is offered before the behaviour is offered, whereas a reward comes after, reinforcing something your dog has already chosen to do. Over time, food is gradually phased out and replaced with praise, play, so your dog learns to respond reliably without always expecting a treat. You would stop working if your boss didn't pay you, wouldn't you?
